A few years back, Walter Speller who writes for Jancis Robinson and is a buyer at the Michelin-starred Le Pont de la Tour, wrote that Custoza is an "underappreciated haven of white-wine quality and value," and "one of Italy’s best-value white wine offers I have seen in a long time." SO underappreciated, we couldn't find a single importer that had enough cases of a decent quality to either appreciate or offer. That was until we found the Monte del Fra Custoza Superiore Ca del Magro 2021. Excited to receive a box of their award winning Amarone, we almost skipped over the Custoza inside. What a surprise. It's almost difficult to describe just how beautiful this wine is, a field blend of 55-year-old vines: Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Cortese, Incrocio Manzoni. They vinify with skin contact and age the wine in concrete tank. A delicate range of ripe pear, white blossom, and mangoes meet juicy acidity and a minerally underpinning that you will "feel at the top of your spine." A must try, you'll be back for a case later in the summer!

James Suckling: 93 Points

"Fresh and bright with notes of peach pits, apricots, lemons and chopped almonds. Some ash. Medium- to full-bodied, with mineral, peppery and smoky layers. Long and sophisticated. Drink now." James Suckling, 93 Points
